Hey guys!
First off, happy New Years Eve :) Are you guys excited for the New Years? Are you going to any parties tonight?
Anyways, so I just recently did a post on moisturizers from Bath and Body Works. Now I want to do a post on my moisturizing/exfoliating routine for my hands, and what is good and bad about the products I use.
As I mentioned before, I really can't stand it when my hands get dry. I know a lot of people don't have a hand routine, but you can do this just any time you want your hands to feel nice. You don't even have to use it on your hands, you could do this on your legs right after you shave or anywhere you just want to feel softer.
All 3 of the products that I use for this routine, I purchased at Lush Cosmetics. I will just talk briefly about the products and then about what I do with them.
The first product I use is their Ocean Salt Cleanser. It says on the tub that it is a facial and body scrub, but I do not recommend that you use it for your face unless you have very dry skin, and you are gentle when using it. It has big chunks of salt in it, which act as the exfoliator (is that a word? My spell check says it's not...weird). These are very abrasive, and after trying it on my face (gently!) several times, I was always left with light pink scrapes all over my face. So, unless you need something abrasive, you shouldn't use it on your face. But this product isn't just salt; it also has grapefruit, lime, coconut, and a bunch of other things too. Also, before I forget, everything from Lush is natural. No artificial anything. All products even tell you if they are vegan or vegetarian (I myself am vegetarian!).
Back to the products! The second product I use is the Dream Cream Body Lotion. This isn't a necessary part of this routine. This moisturizes and repairs any blemishes or irritations on your skin. I use it because I have very sensitive skin (weird, because I don't tan!), so the Ocean Salt sometimes scratches my skin a bit. Also, I use it just because I get a lot of scratches on my hands in general. You can use it if you just want extra moisturized hands, or if you have sensitive hands like mine, but you don't really have to.
The last product in this routine is the Karma Kream Body Lotion. This kind of adds a finishing touch of moisture, and it also adds a really nice scent. It's hard to say what it smells like, but it definitely leaves your hands smelling nice and clean, in a way. There isn't much to say about this product except that it is a really good moisturizer. This is the product that really completes the routine!
Ok, so those are all of the products. Now about the actual routine. So, first I run my hands under warm water. I pat them dry, but not completely dry. Then, I take a tiny amount of Ocean Salt (about enough to cover my thumbprint). This is more than it appears to be! I rub it lightly all over my hands, focusing on my palms and in between my fingers. Afterward, I run it under the same warm water as I did before, and I make sure to get rid of all of the little bits of the salt. Then, I dry them completely. Then, I take a really, really small amount of the Dream Cream and I rub it all over my hands. I let my skin soak that up before I put on the last item. After my hands have dried up the Dream Cream, I put on the Karma Kream (once again, only a small amount!). I let my skin soak that up, and then I'm done! You should be amazed at how soft your skin feels. Or at least, I do and so do my friends when I do it for them! :)
The only thing bad I have to say about this routine is that while your hands do feel really soft after you use it, it lasts only maybe 1/2 an hour to 1 hour. It does make your hands feel soft after that, but not nearly as soft.
The last thing I have to say before I go is that Lush products last forever! Or at least longer than you would think judging by the size of the product. The Ocean Salt comes in a small size (4.2 oz) and a big size (8.8 oz). I have the small size that I got about 4-5 months ago, and I've been using it once or twice a week every week and I'm about half way done with it!
So, I know this is a really long post, but I hope you guys got something out of it!
Happy New Years :)
-Bailey
